JAMES SHIRLEY and Tracy Moseley WIN THE FIRST EVER TRANS REZIA

A six day enduro style, adventure race across the Italian Alps

14,000 metres of vertical crammed into six days sounds pretty awesome to us. The first ever Trans Rezia went down in the Italian Alps last week and it seems to be an event that’s here to stay. Tracy Moseley and James Shirley ended up as winner and Here’s the lowdown form Radon with a video to follow.

James Shirley of the Radon Magura Factory team was invited by the event organiser Clive Forth. Along side riders such as Tracy Moseley, Denny Laputo and Simon Gegenheimer, James and his Radon Swoop 170 excepted the the challenge and travelled to Italy for this big adventure.

James Shirley:
“I like blind racing and it was a unique opportunity to experience the trials and landscape of a virgin event.
After studying the route profiles, i came to the conclusion that the race would have a strong emphasis on the adventure side of things.
Despite having some uplift assistance the transitions were really tough with big hike a bike sections. Unfortunately the stages seemed to be even tougher.
Whilst completely delirious it was incredibly easy to miss the minimal course marking so getting lost became a common theme for everyone.
I was aware of these dangers, so I tried my best not to get lost by literally coming to a standstill in places to look around and make sure.
I was also aware of the huge potential to lose the race through mechanical failure, so I tried to keep it clean and focus on staying fresh for the next interval session.
With these tactics in place I was pleased to take the win after six days of adventure!
In hindsight I think all of the riders are proud of their achievements – to survive an epic adventure across some of the most beautiful scenery so well done to everyone who took part!”
