GEE AND RACHEL ATHERTON TAKE FIRST UK NATIONAL OF THE YEAR

Yeah Billy is at the first UK DH national of the year up in Ae Forest in Scotland. All I got was a text message, and it said…first Gee (Atherton), second Dan (Atherton) and third Beaumont (Marc). Oh yeah, and Cunny (Richard Cunynghame) won Experts. More news on his return (whenever that will be, he’s most probably looking for fuel as I type).

…we have more news now: Gee 2:23.64, Dan 2:26.64 and Beaumont on 2:27.44. That is a pretty hefty margin. Tom Braithwaite took fourth with Neil Donoghue in fifth. In the women’s Rachel Atherton won with a 2:44.98, Tracey Moseley was in second on 2:59.33, with Helen Gaskell in third on a 3:09.47. In the Junior’s Joe Smith took the win with a 2:41.98 from Danny Hart on a 2:41.49. Keep checking back fro more news.

Jerry Twigg on the Veteran race:

Veteran wins Prize for best Elevator Drop In – NPS 1 – What Ever Next??

Alastair Maclennan (Off Beat Bikes) won by a convincing margin over “new Old Git” on the block, Ex Moto Cross rider John Cobb who in turn put eight second into Third Placed Keith Wilson. Cobb’s first NPS Podium improved further when Si Paton presented him a new Helmet for his Outrageous Finish Line Drop in.

The “Tyre Spy” was out pre race: Most of the Vets chose to stay on Spikes for their race runs. The drying conditions meant that “Swamp Donkeys” were probably a better choice. Tracy Mosley had a pair on but Rachel Atherton was spotted with cut down Wet Screams and boy did she make em stick.

Post Race; Rich Simpson and Jerry Twigg had a long quite Trip back down south after riding like a couple of Twerps! Paul Malloy was still smiling as too was Steve Felstead both grateful to be in one piece after surviving the tricky conditions.

Round Two will soon be upon us – so keep well wrapped up old fellas. Spring isn’t here yet.
