Big news from La Bresse, French downhilling legend Fabien Barel has just announced his retirement from racing.

Fabien Barel announces his retirement on the La Bresse WC podium to a stunned crowd.

Three time Downhill World Champion (twice senior, once junior) Fabien Barel has just announced his retirement from World Cup racing on the podium in La Bresse. The Frenchman has had some serious injuries over the last few years. His fourth place on home soil today is as fitting place as any for him to tell the world that he will no longer be racing World Cups.

He will race the World Cup final in Val Di Sole then the World Champs in Champery will be his last.
