Downhill Track gets Thumbs Up from Lake Wanaka Cycling Inc.
Over 50 members of the Lake Wanaka Cycling Inc ascended to Dirt Park NZ this Sunday for a day of shuttle accessed riding on Dirt Parks trail network, which included a trial of a new downhill mountain bike track purpose built for the Subaru South Island Downhill Cup.
The track has been recently built by Wanaka’s “Four Four Three” crew over the past few weeks who also design and build the features for the chairlift accessed terrain at the resort. The track is linking off an existing network which allows all levels of riders to ride together but take different options based on skill level.
Club members spent the day doing up to six laps of the OG track (an existing track from last summer season) and a few of the more experienced riders tried out the more technical race track. Feedback on the day was extremely positive and the experience definitely generated excitement for the upcoming summer season.
“It’s really exciting to see such growth in mountain bike participation. With the new additions being built as we speak, Dirt Park will have even more fun on offer during our extended summer operation.” Dirt Park general manager Sam Lee, 28, commented.
Over the next month, Dirt Park NZ crew will be busy preparing for the December 27th opening of the resort and for the Subaru South Island Downhill Cup event held on January 8th and 9th. New freestyle features are under construction and further development of the downhill tracks will take place.
Dirt Park’s other facilities are available for group bookings over the summer months. Already scheduled to host weddings and group functions, the Snow Park Village complex allows almost any group to have a fantastic night or day at the resort.
All tracks and features are designed and built by Wanaka’s ‘Four Four Three’ crew. For more photos and information, check out www.dirtparknz.com
