Black Ice and handbrake turns

On Friday we all skived off to test some bikes up the local woods.

It was a sunny but frosty morning which meant ice had to be scraped from the wind screen.

As I pulled into the Forestry carpark I spotted Big Mike and Ed H in the corner waving their arms like mad, a clear indication to me of the International “handbrake turn” signal.
Except it wasn’t the International “handbrake turn” signal, I had misinterpreted the wave, it was the very similar International “slow down you fool the carpark is covered in thick black ice” signal.

It was too late, I had eagerly floored the throttle, shot into the carpark at high speed, yanked on the handbrake and gracefully skidded straight across the carpark and smashed straight into the wooden fence on the other side.

Forty quid at the scrap yard up the road soon sorted the old girl out.

“Baby Blue” dented pride.

Muddy day out.
