Antur Stiniog DH and Freeride Centre opening in North Wales soon

A new downhill and freeride centre in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales, called Antur Stiniog will open on Saturday July 21st.

Don’t worry about how to pronounce the Welsh names, just give Adrian a shout if you fancy a blast.

Here’s what the manager of Antur Stiniog Adrian Bradley told us:

Right guys and girls…our attempt to open on the 14th July has been scuppered by the great Welsh weather, insurance companys, lack of a bridge, sign writers, architects, HSBC bank( dont ask!!),web designers, and thats just the tip of the iceberg of what we have tried to overcome over the past few weeks!

“A” marks the spot. The spot being Blaenau Ffestiniog

We are going to open for business on Sat 21st of July, and we will have the B line DH trail, and C+D lines all completed and ready to ride. A line was due to open the same time but the weather that extreme track has had to put up with over the past month has been horrific, and has put him back around 2 weeks, the trail will hopefully be ready for the 4th of August, and believe me it’s a beauty!

We were going to wait for all the trails to be completed but the amount of e-mails, phone calls, Facebook messages we are getting has come to the point where we have got to let you guys ride!!!

The B line is getting fine tuned at the moment, and was a 3 min run top to bottom for an elite level DH rider, so 3-5 mins will be the norm.

The C+D line trails are completed and ready to ride, and have been tweaked since the mbuk boys came over for the photoshot with more tables, kickers and berms just to make them even sweeter.

The minibuses are on site, as are the trailers, uplift drivers have been employed, and we have a 32″x10″ portacabin on site while we have been guaranteed by the contractors that the visitors centre, jump site, push up track, and pump track will be completed by mid Oct.

Posh visitors centre coming soon.

To compensate for the visitors centre, Llechwedd Slate Caverns have a cafe, and toilets yards from the portacabin, and Blaenau Ffestiniog town has a number of cafes, chippys, and bakerys to fuel you up, as well as accommodation, a list of all will be going up on the web site once completed.

So just to recap…Open on Sat 21 / Sun 22 / Tue 24 / Thurs 26 / Sat 28 / Sun 29…and so on, if the demand is there we will open on other days of the week, if you would like to book a group booking e-mail me on [email protected], this is a Mon to Fri e-mail, and I am contactable on the weekend on [email protected]. We are going to do the bookings via e mail until the website is completed, new date is 18th of July.

We are operating on trust guys, so please do not book if you are not 100% sure you are going to be able to make it. So first come, first serve it is…no favouritism, no more than 4 places per e-mail, and 45 places up for grabs, give me your details on [email protected] and see you in 2 weeks…and pray for better weather.

Just to add to this we have over 100 people booked on over the first 5 weeks, so get your e-mails in quick. The uplifts will run from 9.45ish to 4.30ish, and will cost £26 for the full day, 12-15 runs will be the norm, if your arms have not fallen off by then!!
