Aaron Gwin wins Fort William DH Qualifying

Current World Cup leader Aaron Gwin wins downhill qualifying in Fort William.

He may have been shaking his head as he came across the finish line, but current World Cup leader Aaron Gwin has won qualifying in Fort William. He said that he had some ‘loose moments’ , ‘slipping and sliding around’ and that he kept unclipping out of his pedals, but his time of 4.49:730 was more than enough to take the win.
Gee Atherton will be relatively happy with second, 1.873sec back, but check out third. Danny Hart was just 1/1000th of a second behind Gee! Any ‘shock horror’ Troy Brosnon (8th) beats team mate Sam Hill (12th). Greg Minnaar was a little surprised with his position, he felt that he had a good run, but he was 22nd at the first split, 8th at the second and 4th at the last. Peaty was way down at the first split too. Sad to hear that Brendan crashed out and will miss finals tomorrow.

Aaron Gwin contemplates his first place with team director Martin Whiteley.
