7th MTB Pass’Portes du Soleil – 26 & 27th June 2010
Book your place online from 10th February…
Winter’s in full swing here in the Portes du Soleil, but thoughts are already turning to biking this summer and the opening event of the season: the MTB Pass’Portes du Soleil!
Our special MTB event has rightfully earned the respect of MTB fans all over the world (the 2009 edition saw riders from 25 countries); and this year, at least 4000 participants are expected to attend the two-day celebration of MTB and partying!
The key facts for 2010: 75km MTB circuit, 15 summer lifts, a mainly downhill route (with a 6000m descent and 1000m total uphill climb), 8 refuelling pit-stops bursting with delicious local dishes (raclette melted cheese dishes, mountain sausages, bbq, chocolate fondue…) and not forgetting some seriously breathtaking views over the French-Swiss Alps.
New this year: the number of participating starter resorts is up to 9 (from 7 in 2009).
On the French side of the Portes du Soleil they are: Avoriaz, Châtel, Les Gets, Montriond-Les Lindarets and Morzine; on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil they are: Champéry, Les Crosets, Morgins and Torgon. This development gives participants even more choice about where to start their ride, while also helping to redistribute demand and speed up access to the tracks for everyone’s enjoyment.
The MTB Fair 2010 – organised every year in one of the 12 resorts making up the Portes du Soleil – is in Châtel. Riders and visitors can test new bikes from the sport’s big-name manufacturers and watch awesome demos and shows all weekend.
Registration for riders is 40€ (per day) and includes:
– 1 personalised nameplate (with participant’s name and nationality) giving total access the mountains, the lifts and 8 pit-stop refuelling stations;
– 1 road book with details of the 2010 route and alternative tracks;
– 1 liftpass voucher entitling the holder to even more track or slope time this summer or next winter in the Portes du Soleil;
– 1 exclusive present produced especially for the event.
Participants must be over 15 years old to take part in the full MTB Pass’Portes du Soleil ride.
For children aged 9-14yrs, the Pass’Portes Kids is a guided MTB ride with fully qualified MCF instructors, departing from Châtel MTB Fair 2010.
Registration: 16€.
Registration opens on 10th February 2010 via the event’s dedicated website www.passportesdusoleil.com. Future participants are advised to hurry, since for safety and tracktraffic reasons the number of riders is limited to 4000 over all 9 starter resorts.
In 2009, more than 800 people put their names down on the first day of registration!
