Saturday, August 2nd will see the 4X ProTour move to Leibstadt, Switzerland for Round 6 of the 2014 Series. Leibstadt will be the host for this silver event in the 2014 series, which has seen so much action so far.
This 4X ProTour has already visited Szczawno, Winterberg, Fort William, Val Di Sole and Jablonec and now the World’s finest riders will race in Switzerland at this great bikepark.
The track in Leibstadt is fantastic. With a permanent Bensink 4 rider start gate, flowing track, pro line and rhythm last straight, this is a track that suits all styles of riding, but linking a perfect full lap up takes a lot of skill. Local pro rider, Simon Waldburger has been instrumental in making some changes to the track over the last few months and now it is ready for the 4X ProTour to arrive in town.
In the women’s racing, local rider Lucia Oetjen will be looking to take the win in front of her home crowd, but don’t rule out Helene Fruhwirth who has won the last 2 rounds of 4X ProTour. German riders Tanya Hendrysiak and Julia Lackas will also be fighting for the win.
Last year, Leibstadt hosted the Schwalbe Euro 4X Series event and in the mens race it was Hannes Slavik who took the win in an action packed final. However, after his crash last weekend in Czech Republic, Hannes may, understandably, not be racing in Switzerland this weekend. So who will be the main riders. Quentin Derbier has had a great season so far in 2014. He will definitely be one to watch. Scott Beaumont, has had an up and down year but he will be looking for the win in Leibstadt. Local rider Simon Waldburger is flying in the 4X ProTour in 2014 and without doubt he will have the home town advantage and support. Throw into the mix Swiss riders Mirco and Adrian Weiss, French BMX rider Charly Gaillard and Beni Kistner and we are in for an amazing race this weekend.
