The Official-Unofficial National Hardtail Champs went down at the weekend with Lewis Bateman taking the win and the special jacket.
Iain “Ace” Woodley tells the story:
It has happened, heres the breaking news on the result, I however was taken out of racing after 1 1/2 runs when I smashed my face in, I got the Para Medics to check me out before I tried to race on Sunday, just to make sure I didn’t crack my skull or cheekbone, Super-Tavi is not gentle, we came, we styled it up, i got smashed up the track got ripped up, and a new Hardtail Champ rose from brutality that is Champery…… sorry Gawton 🙂
The animals of the podium, on the right in 3rd Jody Bent 2.14, on the left in 2nd (last champ) Ben Deakin in 2.12 and in the middle from Wales riding for Extreme Culture Lewis Bateman 2.10.722.
The new King of Hardtailers, on a single speed.
While Lewis ripped the track a new one, it was busy kicking the crap out of me, I got smashed up in practice and maybe really shouldnt have tried to do a run, which saw me half blind smash myself up again and try to run down with NO front brake, cue lots of other smash ups, not my year this time, some close racing and styling off the big jump, a report will follow when i can see with both eyes !
