Project “Bender” the prelude (some kind of monster)

How the hell do i start this one off ?

Ok project “bender” will make sense when you look closely at the photos, first thing Shane said was he would bend the frame. this will be an ongoing blog project.

However today at work Shane (aka the evil munchkin) decided to wind the piss out of the boss (Paul aka 15 stone biffa that likes flat landing stuff) this ended up with the pair getting all manly and blokey about the coming weekends race with www.kustombikes.co.uk at Avill Ball.

It started at £50 and worked it’s way up too £100 and then settled down at £75.

Shane will be riding the “Bender” in the photos and we may well make him wear an L plate on his helmet as this is his first race. Shane has only been riding for a few months and never at Avill.

Paul will be riding a Steelhead has been riding for a few years and done some local races on a susser and has raced at Avill (knocked himself out up there).

THE BET FOR £75

The race is a mini push up stage race. 2 timed runs on 2 tracks, all 4 runs will be added for an overall run time.

Shane has bet he can get within 5.00.00 mins of Pauls overall time, so if Pauls times say add up too 10.00.00 mins then to win Shane must get 15.00.00 mins or better. If Shane does it in 15.00.10 then he has lost £75

Does that make sense.

However if one or both parties end up in hospital ( quite possible ) then the bet is void. However if one party tries to fake injury or bin it on purpose to get out of the bet then they will default and have to payup.

I did the rough math and over the 4 runs Shane needs to be 1.15.00 mins behind Paul or faster on each run. It is a short track. I reckon Paul will be around 2.10 to 2.30mins. To keep it in check Paul is being made to race the Steelhead as he only races on a COVE STD and has never raced in HT cat.

This really could go either way, if Paul crashes he will lose time to Shane. However as this is Shanes first race he might fall off the start tower, anything could happen (and will with this pair) carnage will happen !

A full write will follow next week after the race and more about “project bender” this also involves a bet for £100 and will end up in hospital for the evil munchkin.

So if you happen to be at Avill Ball over the weekend look out for a steelhead and bender hardtails and give them some tips on how to win, and if you see them lying down in the track they might want some help. it’s a fun race not an NPS and Shane is a newbie, cut the fella some slack in practice as we all had to learn and start somewhere, and of course there is £75 riding on the outcome !
