Still keeping myself busy up here in Fort William. With the worlds looming ever closer its now starting to get a bit scary how close it is. Im trying not to think about it but everyone I speak to keeps saying ‘only 5 weeks to go!’. I know stop reminding me!
Last Tuesday I was whistling ‘ride of the valkyorines’ and airwolfs theme tune. We had a helicopter for the day dropping some much needed new gravel onto the track along with 11 bags dotted strategically along the side of the track for worlds week emergences. This time Im trying a finer grade of lime 10mm to dust opposed to ½ inch to dust. I do love how you get the mix of imperial and metric in this country! Hopefully this finer grade of lime will pack better and not leave so many patch’s of loose marbles. Its packed nice just need to see how it weathers. Dam it im starting to get a bit geeky again. Fallen asleep yet?
Apart from flying gravel onto the downhill we also flew some fencing supplies up onto the hill for the ski fencing and removed some old building material from the back corries as well and flew some more gravel out onto the top of the xc.
Got myself some forks from evilbay so I can now continue the important part of the job, test riding!
This week there has also been a path building group from the collage clearing out a line for spectator access in the forest section of the dh track. Riding down on Wednesday after spreading gravel it was a bit of a shock to see big sections of empty space where trees had been cleared.
Tomorrow Im heading up to the tulloch outdoor adventure centre (www.toac.org.uk). To go to a quad biking course so I can use the quads at the worlds. Should be educational if not great fun! They even do paint balling a well, I wonder if we will get to do both at the same time. That would be a good team building exercise for the event staff, razzing around the hillside blasting the shit out of each other with paint ball guns

Security is going to as tight as a ducks **** at the worlds but it will be carbon neutral!
