Day 6

DAY 6
On Sunday it was my birthday and instead of getting any conventional presents like a Playstation 3 or a new computer I decided to get a mini digger for the weekend and re-landscape the back garden in style.
I decided to get a mini digger because I had nowhere to ride and call my own. I wanted a place where it was invite only and close to a cup of tea and a slice of cake. I had quite a lot of different ideas about what I wanted so I tried to mix them together to get the most of my space. One of the main things I wanted was a pump track to play around on when I was bored or hyper!
The cost of the digger wasn’t too bad for what it did, it was 110 excluding VAT, insurance and diesel. I paid the 110 by working for my brother in law on a farm and my parents paid the rest for me.

When I first got into the digger I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, I turned the ignition key, pulled some levers and shot backwards. After about ten minutes of messing around I finally got going and drove it round the back.

The first thing I started on was the half pipe which I dug into the hill with amazing speed and precision, I was quite surprised really with the power and strength of it as well. When it started to get dark I flicked the switch for the lights and instead of being bathed in light nothing happened, so I decided not to give up and went and got a torch, I worked under the dim circle of light for about an hour or so and then decided it was too hard trying to aim the bucket and the torch at the same time so I went in had a baked potato and cheese and went to bed.
The next morning Bill showed up in his rickety old van to give me a hand with it all almost as soon as he got into the digger the half pipe was finished and he had started on my set of tables, about 3 hours after that Bill said that he had to go and re weld his exhaust back on because had left it on the side of the road after it made lots of noise and fell off. So he left me to my own devices and drove off into the distance, I continued digging in the pouring rain trying to copy his movements and style but failing horribly. My bothers friend who is very good at mechanics mended my lights so after about seven hours of turning the back garden into a lunar landscape I turned in and went to bed.
I woke up in the morning very tired with a back ache and sore knees but still, it was my birthday I couldn’t complain so I ran down stairs like a hyperactive four year old to be greeted by quite a small pile of presents, inside them was a box of celebrations, a Topeak pump, a random sticky crocodile (which is stuck to my ceiling), some hot chocolate with marsh mallows and of course the key for the mini digger. After scoffing my face with celebrations and drowning in hot chocolate ( with marsh mallows), I put my wellingtons on and ran out to the digger and continued re-landscaping the garden. Icouldnt believe it it wasnt raining!I dug myself a super booter that links from the half pipe and runs out into the pump track. At 1.30 ish I went inside to eat my lunch, it was a really good lunch, roast lamb and potatoes and coffee and walnut birthday cake, then after lunch I went back out to play with my rather large toy. I wanted to put a bowl in next to the half pipe but when I started digging I came across so many bricks and bits of metal I could have built a large house so I decided to give in and fill it in. So I set about packing everything down with the mini digger, that took until about 10 and then I had to take all the different attachments round to the front (while churning up the lawn!) then I went in and had a big supper of rice and source and then I went to bed absolutely knackered!
