17 bikes of the Howard Street Dual

Slalom sleds

So what bike do you run for a type of race that’s never been run before? The Howard Street Dual was (probably) the first urban dual slalom race in the world leaving riders scratching their heads about what bike would be best.

The short track kept things close from start to finish

In the end it was more of a run-what-you-brung type affair with everything from dirt jump hardtails to enduro bikes on track. In the end it didn’t seem to matter with a hardtail and a full suss both making the final in the men’s race.

We caught up with a few of the riders to see what they were running. Take a look below:

Steve Peat's Santa Cruz 5010
Sam Dale's GT Distortion
Matt Hockenhull's Commencal Meta HT
Ben Moore's Orange Crush
Sam Hockenhull's Commencal Meta FS
David Camus' On One 456
Anya Tolwinska's Transition Patrol
Joe Camus' Dartmoor 26Player
Jack Drogan's Santa Cruz 5010 (Check out the Nandos helmet)
Oscar Monk's Solid Magix
Matt Jamieson's Black Market Mob
Adela Carter's Pivot Mach 5.7
Alex Metcalfe's Trek Procaliber
Lee Hawden's Kingdom Switch
Rich Baybutt's Cotic Rocket
Paddy Baker's prototype Dialled aluminium hardtail
Cy Turner's Cotic Rocket

Bonus!

We didn’t get a photo of the winning bike (whoops) but here it is in all it’s glory. A special slalom edition of the Airdrop Edit from the Sheffield company.
