Deciding on which flat pedals to include in this list was probably the hardest of all as there’s so many that we like. Close runners included the incredible value for money Superstars and the superb Straitlines, but it was these admittedly none too special looking Truvativs that won out. The reasons are as follows; the viciously sharp pins provide leech-like grip even with crap shoes, and Steve Jones (chief Dirt tester) swears by the fact that the pins scare him into keeping his feet on the pedals rather than pointlessly flailing his legs about. Aside from the grip though these pedals also stand out because of the quality of the bearings and axle that are hidden inside that chunky looking body. So often great pedals are let down by their running gear, but these have proved to be some of the most reliable we’ve ever used. So, they might not look that special, but they are.
