It might not be cheap, but with a spec list that mirrors most people’s wish list this is one hell of a package. If you rolled this bike out of the box and into a World Cup start hut it really wouldn’t look out of place.

Of course what’s hanging off a frame doesn’t really count for much if the frame itself isn’t up to scratch, but with the Demo 8 Specialized took what is already one of the best suspension designs (the 4–bar linkage) and made it even better. It might look complicated but it’s simply a 4–bar design with the shock mounted lower down to help keep the centre of gravity as low as possible. It’s highly effective too, especially when paired with a Double Barrel that now comes as standard on this bike. Neither grip or composure are ever an issue with this set–up.

The only other thing that we’d say is beware of the short back end. Some of you will love the way it handles, but others might not be so keen.
