Gore Ride–On Cable Combo
If you want a gear set up on your bike that’ll survive the worst Britain has to throw at it, then this is it. Thanks to twice the cable pull of a Shimano system Sram’s rear mechs and shifters have for a long time been the most reliable when the shit sets in, but when you combine them with the best sealed cables known to man you can literally forget about them for a year and they’ll still be working as well as the day you fitted them. The Gore cables work just as well with Shimano gears, but I just find that
this is the ultimate combination for perfect long term performance. The only word of warning would be to make sure you fully read the fitting instructions for the cables, if you mess it up they just won’t work the same, but their performance when you get it right is more than worth the effort. EH
