With plenty of help in development from GT Factory Racing, Stan’s roll out their new S1 wheelsets along with a range of wider rim options. We take a look at the details.
Stan’s NoTubes set the industry standard for making mountain bikes tires tubeless. Using his ingenuity, Stan Koziatek devised the original NoTubes system in 2001, the same tech that today has become the benchmark in low weight and reliable sealing.
New levels of durability for more styles of riding.
Stan’s have introduced a new series of wheels designed to bring their patented tubeless technology to an even wider range of riders. Built for long life, low maintenance and at more affordable price points, the new S1 series wheels feature 6061series aluminium rims and are available in six different widths suited to more types of riding – all very easy to set up as tubeless.
With an emphasis on value and durability, the new S1 alloy wheelsets join a mountain wheel line-up that currently includes Stan’s successful MK3 alloy wheels and innovative carbon series wheelsets including the Bravo model that we have on test. While the updated MK3 wheelsets are built to balance strength, lower weight with increased stiffness, the S1 wheels will focus on maximum strength and durability at a keener price. The deeper profile and thicker walls of the new S1 rims result in a 50-70g weight increase over the new MK3 rims, but offer greater impact strength for an even wider range of use. They sound a good option to us, especially for many heavier riders.
