Just landed from UK importers Shorelines are these Scarab pedals and BZA stem from hardcore Canadian brand Chromag. Let’s take a look at what’s on offer…
SCARAB PEDALS
You may be familiar with Brandon Semenuk’s pedal design the Chromag Contact, a light pedal with a body that sits closer to the cranks for trick control. The Scarab is the other option from Chromag (as well as a proper flat pedal for kids) and has some interesting features.

Firstly, the Scarab has the usual slim but large (110mm x 105mm) CNC’d platform with nicely rounded corners and a low 13mm central height. They weighed in on our scales at 428g a pair. The pedals spins on silky smooth bearings and you can rely on the Chromag’s wet Pacific North West testing grounds as proof that they’ll be up to our UK climate.
The BZA stem comes only in the 35mm clamp size, which is usually an option on many stems. There are plenty of 35mm clamp bar and stems running on test bikes here at Dirt but we have yet to develop a strong preference for this bigger size. More brands are jumping onto this diameter and Chromag have other options such as the
