The new ‘EnduroGuard’ from RRP – A mudguard for front or rear use

Simple flexible plastic mudguards like these ones have changed the way we think about mudguards. We used to shudder at the very mention of the word mudguard simply because the options out there normally looked like shit and didn’t really work anyway. These ones on the other hand work a treat and don’t make your bike look like a dogs dinner.

With several different versions now on the market though you’re left with the decision as to which one to go for. They all seem to work well to be fair, but we think RRP might just have managed to sneak ahead of the competition thanks to some neat little touches on this new EnduroGuard (it seems that everything these days has to have the word enduro in it). The main unique feature is that this mudguard has a couple of extra holes that can be easily punched out in order to fit it as a rear mudguard too (in order to protect your shock etc).

You might have also noticed the ‘Seal Guard’ logo, and basically this just means that RRP have chucked an extra bit of material around where your fork seals are. It’s not rocket science, but it should help stop mud getting near those seals.

RRP also reckon they’ve gone to the expense of sourcing a custom thickness of polypropylene as they felt the stuff that’s currently used is either a little too thick or a little too thin. Theirs sits squarely in the middle, and it has to be said it does feel spot on.

The EnduroGuard also comes in two different sizes, standard and long. The former is meant to be designed for forks up to 120mm of travel, and the latter up to 200mm travel. There are slight differences in the position of the mounting holes to accommodate the extra arch clearance on longer travel forks, but to be honest we’ve found that you can mount either to any fork really. RRP reckon that if you’re planning on fitting one to the rear of your bike then the standard one is probably the best one to go for, but again it comes down to personal preference really.

As you can see above these mudguards are available in five different colours and each one is made right here in the UK. You even get some fancy white zip ties thrown in, and all for what we think is a very reasonable price. So yeah, if you’re after a mudguard we definitely think one (if not two) of these should be on your shortlist.
