MOUNTAIN CYCLE SHOCKWAVE
For 2009 Mountain Cycle’s Shockwave 9.5 becomes simply the Shockwave, and that’s because they’ve reduced the frames travel from 9.5” to 8”. The changes haven’t just stopped at the revised linkage though, they’ve also managed to shave some weight off, and even more importantly they’ve lowered the bottom bracket and slackened off the head angle to bring the frame more into line with today’s standards. Unfortunately at the time of going to print we still can’t get an exact answer out of them as to exactly what the new geometry is, and they still have the old spec’s on their website, but looking at this frame it still seems like it might be leaning towards the steeper end of the scale. Anyway, it seems incredibly well made and finished for this kind of price, so if a future full test proves it to be even half decent then it could well be the bargain DH bike of the year. Stay tuned…
