Fox’s 2017 catalogue landed on our desks this morning and there’s quite a few new additions and tweaks to mull over. Here are the highlights:
The Fox Rhythm 34
The first thing we noticed was a brand new fork – the Fox Rhythm.
Fox claims the Rhythm is part of its new “value positioning”. You may be thinking that this is related tothe recent acquisition of Marzocchi however Fox assures us it has taken a lot longer to develop this fork than the few weeks between the deal and now.
We reckon this is a smart move for Fox as it currently loses out on huge swathes of the all-mountain/trail market to the likes of the RockShox Yari. Besides a bit more competition will be good for consumers as it should encourage everyone to up their game.
The fork will be made from 6000 series aluminium (a lower grade than the rest of its forks) and have 34mm grey anodised stanchions. It comes with the FIT GRIP damper that’s based on FIT technology, but instead of a bladder the cartridge uses a spring loaded IFP (Internal Floating Piston) to prevent the mixing of air and oil. It is basically a simpler design and a bit heavier then the FIT4.
The fork will be OEM only for now, so we can’t give you an exact price, but if this is a sign of things to come for Fox then maybe it won’t be long before we see it producing aftermarket budget forks too.
