Bos has unveiled the Obsys downhill fork and the Syors shock at Eurobike as well as revealing the dhyos fork (an updated BOS Idylle).
Bos Obsys downhill fork
Bos is wearing its motorbike history on its sleeve with the new inverted Obsys fork. Looking at this thing you realise it’s a true brute. The 42mm stanchions and even thicker tubes make it the meatiest fork on the market and the oversized crowns only add to the aesthetic.
The reason for all this reinforcement is torsional stiffness, something Bos is claiming is lacking on other inverted forks such as the Manitou Dorado or the DVO. Bos is claiming that despite being inverted, the Obsys is up there with the stiffest on the market, including the Fox 40.
The fork is 220mm travel with a 200mm, 29 inch version also available. The fork will come with 2 different steerer tubes that allow you to set the offset between 53 and 59mm.
The damper is an improved FCV damper that was tested by the Polygon UR team for a whole year on the World Cup circuit when they were still on Bos. It’s smaller and comes with new bushings and seals.
As for tuning, Bos are surprisingly ungenerous. Their philosophy is that they’ve perfected the spring curve and don’t want you to be able to mess with it by allowing for adjustment of the negative chamber. The two valves on top are for air pressure and pre-load only.
This looks like a brute of a fork and we can’t wait to get some laps into it. The downside? The weight is above the three kilogram mark. We’ll be putting some runs in to see how much of a difference this makes soon.
