Downhill Mountain Bikes From Asia

Polygon and Giant both come out of the continent...

Are there many decent options when it comes to downhill mountain bikes from Asia?

These days, a lot of bicycle frames come out of Taiwan or China, but when it comes to Asian designed and built downhill rides there isn’t an enormous range. What is on offer though, includes some of the best in the world.

We’re taken a look at British downhill mountain bikes, European downhill mountain bikes and American downhill mountain bikes. Here’s three downhill mountain bikes from Asia to get you down the trail…

Giant Glory Advanced 0

A composed package with a reliable specification put through its paces by Marcelo Gutierrez and formerly Danny Hart on the World Cup circuit. Make no mistake, the Giant Glory is one of the best bikes on the market.

Not only is the Glory lighter than the majority of downhill rigs on the market, it rides smooth, silently and incredibly fast when put to work.

Polygon Collosus

The Collosus DH8 and DH9 – from Indonesian brand Polygon – are proven at the highest level, with Kurt Sorge riding the DH9 to the Red Bull Rampage crown in 2015 and Aussies Mick and Tracey Hannah sitting in the saddles of the bike on the World Cup circuit since 2013.

Sorge said of the bike: “I have been loving the Collosus DH series. It has eight inches of travel and it can withstand anything you put in its way. The carbon rear end makes the rear end float over rough terrain, and stiff performance for large hits and cornering.”

We reviewed the DH8 recently and found it to be a bike with some real potential, which could be a fantastic ride with some careful tweaking.

Da Bomb’s Foab Bomb

Da Bomb come out of Taiwan, and the Foab Bomb is there premium downhill rig. The frame is made out of hydro formed aluminum to provide a responsive front end while maintaining a stiff rear. It can be set for 26” & 27.5” wheels.

The long wheelbase length together with the lower centre of gravity provides confidence in high speed turns. Bigger size bearings in the suspension link ensure smooth linkage-suspension operation and ability to absorb big impacts.
