In the mid 90’s a set of Race Face Turbine cranks were probably at the top of your wish list, whether you were an XC or DH rider. For some reason that iconic name disappeared from Race Face’s line up, but they’ve now given it a worthy place as the title for their new ‘do–it–all’ range. Think light enough for XC use (873g for a triple set–up including the bottom bracket), but plenty enough strength for some agro action too. Race Face have also put a lot of effort into making the bottom bracket as light and as durable as possible. The seals have been upgraded and the bearing races are now titanium coated, plus the whole thing is fully serviceable. The cranks themselves come with a removable granny ring spider for improved chain guide clearance, and the lifetime warranty says a lot for how strong they reckon they are. If they’re not already light enough for you then some extra cash will buy you the ‘SL’ version which comes complete with a titanium axle, but that’s only the start of the available options. You also get a choice of 180, 175 or 170mm length, triple, double, single ring with bash, or arms only, BB30, BB92 or standard 68/73 bottom bracket, and finally a black, red or grey finish. Basically they’ve got every option covered, and there’s no arguing that they’ve got style for miles.
