4X World Champions were decided last night in Leogang, Joost Wichman took the Men’s title ahead of Micheal Mechura, Quentin Derbier and Tomas Slavik. After Mechura and Slavik came together taking one another out it was down to Debier and Wichman to fight it out. Joost saw red and with this being his last 4X race he didn’t want to come in 2nd. Making a pass on the inside he pushed Derbier back into 2nd, skimming the rocks he pinned it to the finish to take the win. UK 4X master Scott Beaumont crashed out and took a heavy fall but according to the wonder of social media Scott is ok.
Caroline Buchanan added the 4X World Title to her BMX World Title she earned in New Zealand earlier this year. The UK’s Katy Curd came in 2nd place after taking the series overall title last weekend on the same track. Anneke Beerten took a missive stack as Curd overtook her, blowing out her front wheel and taking a bang to the head. Her last 4X race Beerten will be concentrating on Enduro next season.
