Jon the designer loves 4x bikes, his latest build is the Foes 2:1 4X

It’s been a long time coming but the Foes 4X is finally up and running. We’ve fitted Shimano Deore Cranks, shifter and brakes, complemented with a short cage Saint rear Mech… We wanted to run a deore mech as well but they only make a long cage version. Rock Shox Pike 426 coils, Shimano XT all mountain wheels, a new Spank Spike stem and Spank Spike 777 bars (trimmed down a smidge), Chris King headset, Foes own chain device and some Bontrager Jones Mud XC tyre’s to cut through all the lovely sodden soil we’ve been graced with lately.
First impressions are good, the Curnutt XTD shock is performing brilliantly and I’ve tried the forks for general trail use from 100mm to 140mm…. Anything over 120mm however and the bikes seems to get drunk on all the extra travel. Keep the forks down though and this is a seriously focused and very capable trail / mini DH machine.
Next stop, the 4X track and the local dirt jumps and a full side by side test with three other 4X full sussers to appear in the magazine soon.
