Unless you really feel the need for a super light weight (and almost always hideous) pair of disco slippers then we reckon these AM45’s are really the only choice when it comes to SPD shoes.
They’ve got just the right balance of stiffness for both pedalling and spending time on foot, plus unlike so many other shoes of this ilk they’ve got a sole that will actually grip when you’re trying to push up some muddy track.
Talking of mud, the other thing we love about them is the fact that the upper part can also admirably deal with the shitty brown stuff, making them perfect for use in the UK. They’ve also proved to last for ages, which in our eyes just makes them even more of a bargain.
