Synopsis
A fresh take on How-To films. Our journey from setting up Dirt School to working with
World Champions inspired us to make this DVD. Using our time on the trails with hundreds
of riders, we wanted to share our experiences with you.
You donʼt even have to leave the
sofa. Taking a totally different approach to learning mountain biking, the film shows you
how itʼs done and gives you the steps to achieving them in a relaxing, laid back
atmosphere. The way we like it.
Sometimes it’s easier to learn when watching others do it too. So, thereʼs a bunch of
highlights from our lessons in the DVD. Showing you the thoughts and feelings of other
riders learning. Letting you relate everything to your own experiences.
All the essentials are covered in a very in-depth style. Thereʼs blue, red and black level
trails included for progression. By the end, youʼll feel more confident hitting those rocks on
your favourite ride. The real highlight is in the detail, and thereʼs loads that you may not
have come across elsewhere. Itʼs often the small things that count the most.
The film covers the basics in a way to give advanced riders the chance to sharpen up their
skills too. From our time on the trails, weʼre found looking at these can help almost
everyone. Getting these right and youʼll open a whole new dimension to your riding,
wherever you ride.

Synopsis
Background
Dirt School Ltd was set up in early 2007 by UCI Mountain Bike World Cup competitor
and Scottish National Downhill Coach, Chris Ball (from Edinburgh), to provide mountain
bikers with the necessary tuition needed to tackle the fast expanding network of trails
and events in the UK and worldwide. It draws on vast amounts of experience in
mountain biking – from Chris Ball, Andy Barlow and Rowan Sorrell.
The Dirt School team teach the essentials of mountain biking success, whether a rider
is just starting out, preparing for a big event, or want to shave vital seconds off their
competition time. On some of the best trails in the world.
Since its inception in 2007, Dirt School has achieved a huge amount of success in a
relatively short space of time. Working alongside Scottish Cycling, Chris set up a
programme to allow him to coach and mentor Scottish Junior downhill talent in the build
up to the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships at Fort William. The
programme produced two top ten results in the junior downhill final, one of which being
a gold medal and Britain’s first ever male Downhill World Champion!
Including the role as UCI Technical Delegate for the World Cups, Chris and Dirt School
are continuing to develop the sport at all levels.
The new DVD, covering the fundamental building blocks to trail riding is another chapter
in Dirt School’s journey. And one which we’re very proud of.
