In a small corner of Canada, mountain biking was turned on its head by a crew of maverick wildmen (and women).
These guys wanted to take mountain bikes bigger, faster and longer than they’d ever been before and in one fell swoop, freeride was born. it didn’t take long for the North Shore to become the new home of mountain biking and arguably it still is to this day.
“The Moment” is a feature-length documentary about the birth of freeride mountain biking that features the mountain bikers and filmmakers who rose up, challenged the status quo, and turned the sport of cycling on its head. It’s directed by former pro mountain biker-turned-filmmaker Darcy Hennessey Turenne who tries to trace the birth of a sport that nobody wanted…
