Canyon Factory Racing has its first big win as Troy Brosnan takes the Crankworx Les Gets downhill title.
On a course that’s pretty similar to the legendary dirt ribbon that delivered the epic 2004 World Champs, Brosnan slashed the wide open, off-camber grassy turns fastest to take the top step of the podium.
Loris Vergier picked up another second place, just ahead of team mate Greg Minnaar. Bernard Kerr backed up his first World Cup podium in Leogang by sending it in fourth and George Brannigan grabbed his best result of the year in fifth.
In the women’s race, Myriam Nicole took the win on home soil. This is the first win for a 29er downhill bike in women’s racing – how long before the rest of the women start following suit?
Tracey Hannah’s hot form continued as she finished second. Emilie Siegenthaler was third, Manon Carpenter fourth and Jill Kintner fifth.
