Danny Hart and Gee Atherton laid down the fastest times of the first day of the British Downhill Series from Fort William this afternoon – both on 29ers.
Hart laid down a time of 4:42.558 with Gee roughly 2.5 seconds back. The fastest 650b bike belonged to Greg Williamson who finished third on 4:47.398.
What does this mean? Probably not a great deal. Let’s be honest, Danny and Gee don’t hang around whatever they’re riding and there was all sorts of experimentation going on this afternoon with a lot of big hitters such as Laurie Greenland, Remi Thirion and Adam Brayton not really pushing hard for good times. Still, it’s always fun to speculate.
In the women’s field, Tahnee went fastest on 5:22.950 on her new 650b Transition, but with Manon nearly two minutes back in second, it looks like nobody else was pumping out full runs.
It’s all to play for tomorrow now with seeding in the morning and racing in the afternoon. Stay tuned to Dirt for the results as they come in.
