Devinci Global Racing has today announced it will not be fielding a team in the 2017 downhill World Cup series.
It was a rough year for the team with Stevie Smith tragically passing away while racing on the hottest form since his 2013 World Cup overall win. Mark Wallace and Brage Vestavik and Magnus Mason admirably soldiered on throughout the season, but it was obviously a tough ask after such a heartbreaking start.
Devinci have said they were “unable to put together a team that met [their] expectations” for next season so have decided to withdraw the program.
It’s encouraging to hear they have every intention to return to the World Cup soon. They have one hell of a bike in the Wilson that needs to be showcased at the highest level.
Devinci will be carrying on its enduro porgram with Damien Oton (who finished second in the EWS) and Theo Galy.
We wish everyone involved in the Devinci Global Racing program the best and hope to see them back in the pits as soon as possible.
