Harry Heath announces retirement from professional racing

Best of luck Bazza

World Cup racer and former Dirt team rider Harry Heath has announced his retirement from profesional racing.

Heath, 25, took to Instagram to announce his retirement just before Mont Sainte Anne. He said: “I’ve decided this will be my last year racing bikes professionally. There’s a lot of reasons combined that make me feel that it’s time to make a move. To be as good as I can be has meant full commitment to the sport, this has been massive enjoyment dedicating my time to accomplishing my biggest dream so far. If the time I’ve spent racing has given me so many rewards I can only imagine and be excited what will come from new ventures in life. The people I’ve met riding bikes has made it the amazing thing it’s been. Such diverse people have given me the best life lessons I could have ever hoped for and continue to do so.”

Time to go. M.S.A ✌️you've been amazing again and always my favourite. I've decided this will be my last year racing bikes professionally. There's a lot of reasons combined that make me feel that it's time to make a move. To be as good as I can be has meant full commitment to the sport, this has been massive enjoyment dedicating my time to accomplishing my biggest dream so far. If the time I've spent racing has given me so many rewards I can only imagine and be excited what will come from new ventures in life. The people I've met riding bikes has made it the amazing thing it's been. Such diverse people have given me the best life lessons I could have ever hoped for and continue to do so. So much I want to write down but that sums it up. I'll be racing Crankworx in Whistler and World Cup finals in Andorra so it'll be rad to see you all then. The list is endless to the thank you's so thank you everyone and cheers @jonnydunc on the pic. Rest in peace Monk Dawg you were a much loved dude????????

Heath is currently racing at Crankworx (where he picked up a second consecutive fifth in the Garbanzo DH) and will finish his career at Vallnord for the World Cup finals. The Stoke-on-Trent rider has been racing World Cups since 2008 and scored two career-best top ten results at the end of last year in Windham and Val di Sole.

It was not an easy road to the top for Heath though as he had to endure a year as a privateer in 2013, working as a builder to fund his racing. It was this work ethic that convinced us to give him a spot on the Dirt Orange team in 2014 but after one short year he was whisked away by Norco, with whom he will end his career in September.

We want to take this opportunity to wish Harry the all the best in whatever the future holds for him both on and off the bike. Cheers Bazza!
