On Sunday the rain came down and, while this didn’t affect the top of the track too much, it turned the final grassy corner into a slippery roulette.

James Purves put together his first full run of the year and managed to grab the top spot. He said: “I was a bit unsure about how quick I was going after seeding because I had a mint run and the time didn’t really add up. It got a bit wet which was a bit nicer, it was a bit windy up there and I thought I’d messed up a couple of times but I got most of the turns pretty sick.”

After his win in Bala, Innes Graham found himself in the unusual position of having to race for points, not just results. He took a heavy crash in seeding and then played it a little too safe in finals to finish tenth. He said: “I’ve never been in the position I am just now. I feel like I’ve come a long way this year and I’ve learnt a lot this weekend but that run wasn’t what I know I could have done.”
