Day two awaiting for the riders with another four great stages in Ainsa.

The last hundred metres of stage five went through an ‘almost’ dry river bed. Theo Galy taking the direct route to the finish line.

Looking back that already looked like a teaser for what would be waiting for the riders later in the day.

Robert Williams, Scott Laughland, Joe Smith and Matti Lehikoinen checking out their times. Joe Smith was finding his groove for Enduro with an 11th and 13th place on the first two stages.

After a big crash on day 1 Anneke Beerten was trying to pull back some time and positions today, starting off well with a second place on stage five. Unfortunately a puncture on the next stage again cost her a huge amount of time.

The crowds and fans all weekend in Ainsa were amazing on every single stage. It’s crazy when you know how far some of the stages are from any paved roads.

Day ones stages three (21th) and four (11th) probably didn´t end with the results Martin Maes was looking for, but today he was definitely on it starting with a win on stage five.

After a clean sweep for Richie Rude on day 1, the last man down had quite a moment on the bottom of stage five, jumping a bit too far off this crest and almost getting thrown off his bike in the next compression.

Isabeau Courdurier was looking fast all week and backed up her consistent results from day one by taking second on stage six and third in the race overall.

With two fourth places on the first day Nico Lau was already up there and was going even faster. A stage win on six and a third on seven put him in fourth overall at the end.

As the day went on Jared Graves’ results improved with every stage. Getting sixth on stage six and scoring a win on seven at the end of the day.

Remy Absalon with another consistent day, finishing in 12th overall after stage seven.

After a good first stage Yoann Barelli struggled to keep the same pace on the last two stages leaving him in 11th on six and seven. Overall that still was just enough to save second this weekend in front of a charging Martin Maes.

U21 junior rider Amaury Pierron was riding amazingly fast all weekend, easily taking the win; his time would have been good for a top 15 place in the men’s category.

Just before the women where about to start, the rain came in really heavy so that the organisers had to stop the race after the dusty surface had turned into muddy goo.

The whole track turned into a river while the finish area at the bottom of the valley basically got flooded.

Still looks like a fun day for Mark Scott and Wyn Masters.

With a lead of 340 points Tracy Moseley now basically only needs to finish in the top 40th at the final round in Finale Ligure next week to keep her number one plate for the next season.

Quite a crazy moment getting handed axes and a running chainsaw with an actual chain on during a podium ceremony. Hope airport security won’t mind bringing that on as a carry-on!

Considering that places two to six (so Barelli, Maes, Lau, Graves and Vouilloz) where separated by just three seconds the twenty second gap that Richie Rude was able to pull on everybody this week was quite a demolition.

Young gun Richie Rude made a huge step towards his first Enduro World Championship title this weekend and showed that he has everything required. Showing mental strength while most contenders struggled. This definitely wasnt an easy one. Rude now just needs to finish 23rd or better next weekend in Finale Ligure to secure the title.
