Trans Provence 2015

Provence in its resplendent beauty... and a load of mountain bikers tearassing through.

We think it’s safe to say that the Trans Provence (TP) – ‘The original Alpine MTB Rally’ as the organisers call it – has arguably been one of the most influential mountain bike events of recent times.

Since its inception TP has captured the imagination of riders, racers and the industry alike. The element of exploration and personal challenge that it and other similar races promote have helped spur on an evolution in all-mountain riding. It’s also become a benchmark event for enduro racers; win this one and you are among the kings of the discipline.

While we can’t all afford to go and actually race something like this, there’s no harm in dreaming and the sublime moving and still images that come out of the Trans Provence each year are enough to evoke a sense of adventure in anyone.

2015 is no exception, and while the race happened earlier in the summer (traditionally it takes place in early autumn), it was by no means any less arduous or eventful than ever. TP have just come out with the full highlights reel (above), with photo gallery and 2016 entry details below. Enjoy.

‘Mavic® Trans-Provence 2016 is set to be another wild week of adrenaline-filled adventure racing. From 18th to 25th June next year, 80 riders will once again rally their bikes down the epic trails of the Southern French Alps from Embrun to Menton. The itinerary’s start and end points will remain unchanged, but there’ll be plenty of awesome new stuff along the way. As usual, we have a strong pro rider roster confirmed, but there will be 60 public spots opening up on 1 NOVEMBER 2015 to experienced amateur riders from anywhere.’
