As we enter the transitory period between Summer and Autumn, on-season and offseason, so too we have an amalgamation of race footage and edits in this weeks 5ives. With a 30 minute Syndicate epic covering the highs and lows of La Bresse and Lenzerheide, one of the best Raw100's we've seen as well an adventure up an active volcano, it's certainly a mixed bag, and it's all the better for it.
So, without further ado, kick back and enjoy the best video content released this week.
Richie Rude Blazes His Own MTB Trails | RAW 100
We broke down the wizardy behind how this was filmed in our recent feature on the rise of FPV drones, but it's worth taking another look at. Red Bull's Raw100's have pushed mountain biking filmmaking since they were first introduced, and the bar just keeps getting raised.
In the latest iteration, two-time EWS champion Richie Rude blows the lid off his home trails and reminds us all of the threat he carries. Great filming, better riding. This is the pick of the week.
THE SYNDICATE 2018 - Episode 6
A near 30 minute, exhaustive look at the final two races of the season for the Santa Cruz Syndicate.
It's been a mixed bag for the syndicate this year. An early season injury put Greg out of contention, Luca has been on the precipice of something special that just never materialised and it seems like a waiting game for Loris to make the inevitable step up to overall season contender.
Still, with one race to go the boys were looking to lay it all on the line for some end of season glory. Although they went home empty-handed, having all 3 riders in the top 8 will have the Syndicate itching to get started again next year.
The Return to Momotombo
Momotombo is an active Volcano in Nicaragua, nearly 1300m high and covered in a cloud of sulfur gas. Not the first place that springs to mind when planning a riding trip then, that is unless you're Kurt Sorge, Nico Vink, & Kyle Jameson.
Following their failed attempt at scaling the beast last year, a consequence of a lack of respirators and radios, this video chronicles their second visit. Regardless of whether big mountain riding still has a place in freeriding, the shots in this video are out of this world. Definitely worth a watch.
What does it take? MTB World Champs 2018
2018 has been a standout year for Madison Saracen. Under Danny Hart's stewardship, the all-new Myst debuted as the second fastest bike in the world and, in the young phenom Matt Walker, they boast the British national champ and a superstar in the making.
The boys headed into Lenzerheide looking to put a cherry on the cake, and that they did. A bronze for Danny and a second top 10 of the season for Matt, expect big things from this team next year.
Hardline 2018 - Head to Head POV // Bryceland + Evans
It's been Hardline heavy this past week, but justifiably so, it's the Anti-World Champs; one wild race to end the season with no pressure.
Ratboy broke his v10 out of retirement and laid down a blinder in qualifying, before calling it a day and heading home to dry out while last years winner Craig Evans was busting moves as usual. Even better, the 50:01 crew has put helmet cam footage of their respective runs side by side for a proper comparison.
