Edits of the Year 2017

Video goodness

Has it been a great year for edits? Not really. We’ve certainly had some great films – Deathgrip, Wheel Love, Not 2 Bad and, without blowing our own trumpets too much, A Bigger Slice of British Pie. But edits have actually been a bit sparse.

Look at it this way, the most watched videos on our site this year were some blokes wrangling with an electric fence and a bear getting not that close to some riders. Compare that to last year when Semenuk slaying on a BMX track and Wee Day Out ruled the roost and you start to get a picture of the year.

Still, there have been some great short vids this year. Here’s a run down of our favourites interspersed with the best film parts of the year, we’ve not included event videos or Pie (because we don’t want to sound like dicks).

Bernard Kerr – Whistler

We’re inundated with Whistler edits every summer but Bernard Kerr takes top honours this year with this absolute corker.

Mike Hopkins – Dream Ride II

A nice break from the ‘shredit’ style, corner destroyers, Mike Hopkins’ Dream Ride is a masterpiece of editing and location scouting. A truly inspiring look at the places bikes can take us.

Brayton RAW HB.160

You haven’t seen the Lake District ridden like this since, well, since the last time Brayton did a Lakes edit. Full throttle on the new HB160 from the Keswick Kestrel.

Joel Anderson – Pinner

Joel Anderson and Tommy C are rapidly becoming a bit of a dream team. This is Pinner, a spiritual sequel to ‘Fuck You, Get Pumped’ and it’s just as rad.

Matt Jones – Frames of Mind

A six figure budget and six months’ work went into the biggest moment of Matt Jones’ career and it was a total triumph. Fewer vlogs more of this please Matt.

Brandon Semenuk Raw 100 v3

Semenuk raw. What more can you say? Sumptuous.

Deathgrip – Schladming

Deathgrip set the new standard for mountain bikes dripping in production quality and slow-mo. Clay Porter’s cinematography was something else and it’s best showcased in this Schladming section.

Wheel Love

Jibbing is here to stay as the 50/01 boys pull a blinder out of the hat. Some of the most creative and downright dangerous riding ever caught on film. It’s only been out for a fortnight but it’s comfortably the best thing we’ve seen all year.
