The definitive ranking Danny MacAskill’s edits

The good and the great of Danny MacAskill

Now, we’re not saying there’s such a thing as a bad Danny MacAskill video but there are some that are even more exceptional than the rest.

Here is our ranking of Danny MacAskill’s best videos:

1. Wee Day Out

Ok, so maybe it’s just because it’s the most recent but in our opinion Wee Day Out is the best thing Danny has ever produced. It combines the bike skills of his earlier trial videos, the fantasy of Imaginate and the trail riding of The Ridge to create a perfect mix.

If you’re only as good as your last video then Danny Mac is probably the best rider in the world right now.

2. The Ridge

The Ridge is┬áDanny MacAskill’s second most viewed video (it currently stands at 45 million) and it’s easy to see why. It may be a departure from his usual trials trickery but the sense of adventure is unreal and the hats off to Cut Media for the cinematography.

It reportedly inspired the final scene of The Force Awakens – although we don’t see Mark Hamill doing a nose bonk fronty any time soon!

3. Inspired Cycles

It’s lo-fi and rough round the edges but it still feels as magical as when we first watched it. This was Danny’s break out video and it was totally different to anything we’d seen at the time.

With a BMX style and unbelieveable creativity, MacAskill became a star overnight. Red Bull sponsorship followed and the rest is history.

4. Way Back Home

Danny’s first Red Bull video feels like a Wee Day Out junior now as he travels round Scotland searching for the best spots. It’s hard to believe this came out over six years ago – Danny’s come a long way!

5. Imaginate

The big budget bonanza, Imaginate was a year in the making and even had its own Making Of web series. It’s an amazing concept with the usual mix of humour, innovative riding and fun but we prefer the less staged videos Danny’s done.

6. Industrial Revolutions

Filmed as part of a Channel Four documentary called Concrete Circus (well worth tracking down if you haven’t seen it), Industrial Revolutions shows Danny going wild in an abandoned train yard.

There’s definitely nothing wrong with this video, it just doesn’t seem to push his riding as much as the other videos he’s done.

7. Epecuen

An stunning location, amazing riding and great soundtrack, Epecuen had it all but for some reason it doesn’t quite suck us in like the rest of Danny’s work. The fact that it (only) has 11 million views shows we’re probably not alone.
