Five mountain bike fights caught on camera

Rumble in the jungle? More like fumble in the forest.

Maybe it comes from the hippy roots of the sport, but mountain bikers are a pretty peaceful bunch. However, that’s not to say we can’t be driven to our limits when push comes to shove.┬áTruth be told though, we aren’t the best fighters (we must be better lovers), so don’t expect anything like a Connor McGregor bout, more angry words and gentle shoves.

Now, we don’t condone the behaviour in any of these videos… but they do make for a funny watch.┬áHere are five mountain bike fights caught on camera.

The Neo Nazi riot

Last year’s City Downhill race in Bratislava was interrupted by this Neo Nazi protest. To be honest they just sort of burst in then mill around in their balaclavas not doing much. Apart from one guy in a Where’s Wally hat who unsuccessfully tried to steal a camera… then some wire (at about 1:20). Nutter.

Mountain Bike Thief Busted by Cam McCaul

This is the kind of stuff we like to see. Fuck bike thieves and long live Cam McCaul. Way back in 2007 Cam saw his friend’s nicked bike in this cafe and decided to take the law into his own hands. What a legend.

The Flying Nun Assault

The FlyingNun trail lived up to its name as these two had a bit of handbags after a ride back in 2012. The man in yellow was actually arrested over the incident but truth be told, he probably had cause to be a bit peeved at the way he was being tailgated down the whole trail.

Yes, etiquette dictates that he should have pulled over, but equally the following rider could have waited. Strava KOMs aren’t worth having a scrap over.

The XC bust up

This is the only real fist fight in the list and it’s over before it begins. You’d think a wheel to the face would have stopped the blue guy but he lands a stonker of a right hook to send the rider in white flying.

The Bridge

Who needs commissaires when you have fans like this? We really hope this is real, but we have a feeling it’s not. Either way it’s a hilarious throwback to the good old days with flouro clothing, peakless helmets and naff bikes.
