Want to race in the Enduro World Series? The Kinlochleven Enduro could be for you

The only British qualifying event

The ENDURO WORLD SERIES has always been great for allowing the general public to compete against the world’s best in a sociable race format. However, if you’re an aspiring racer, it can sometimes be difficult to even get yourself a spot in the starting gate simply due to the popularity of them.

To combat this, the EWS introduced Qualifier Events. Simply put, the EMBA has selected a number of well-established events that will be able to award qualifier points to prospective racers. There are 18 qualifier events that take place around the globe and your best three results are taken into consideration for qualification to the Enduro World Series.

The only British event this year is the Kinlochleven Enduro that happens in Scotland on 20 November and entries are on sale now.

Statistics from the first two races in the series are impressive – two races – 10 stages – 602 riders – 2382 m total descent. The fastest time on the shortest stage in 2015 was 1:56 and on the longest stage was 7:38, this meant an average stage time for elites was 3:20, impressive stats for a UK event and this year’s secret course is likely to boast similar figures.

Chris Ball, director of the Enduro World Series, said: “For the past two years we’ve awarded reserve entry places for the Enduro World Series to the top men and women of the Scottish Enduro Series as it has grown into one of the world’s leading enduro race series, with big country terrain, large entry fields and a great variety of venues.

“It is fantastic to strengthen this relationship further by working with No Fuss Events on the only UK EWS Qualifier event for the 2017 series, part of our new qualifying system that incorporates 18 global venues from Mexico to New Zealand. As a Scotsman myself, it’s also an honour to be able to showcase the world renowned big mountain backdrop with No Fuss Events in the iconic Kinlochleven.”

If you want to use the Kinlochleven Enduro as a launchpad to the EWS it’s worth knowing you’ll have to complete at least two other qualifying events to be in with a shot. There’s one in Ireland in Septmeber, but other than that you’ll have to head to either France or Italy over the summer to compete in one of the other European events.
