Propain Dirt Zelvy team video: Fort William BDS

Loving back wheel... as always

Just a year on from wind closing the gondola and racers being forced to push up and race half a track, the BDS circus rolled back into FORT WILLIAM. Team Propain Dirt Zelvy came in force, The sun was shining and they were ready to race.

In just a few weeks, the World Cup hits Fort William, so the boys were keen to get some solid practice runs in. Oh and a solid few quarry sessions on the moped and TTR. Check out all the action below!

Phil Atwill was ecstatic that he could fit his moped in the back of his car and bring it up to Fort William. Many wheelie sessions and quarry evenings were had in between the dusty, yes dusty, riding of the infamous track.

The boys got there a day early so were able to spread between 15 and 20 runs over the three days. Phil put down a solid run on race day and stuck within the top three for a good while, then ending up 12th which against what was pretty much a World Cup field. Check out what he had to say about the weekend below-

“I’m happy, I’m still in 3rd currently and I had a really good run. I did all my little warm ups and breathing exercises at the top and I’m now happy with my pre-race routine. Dug deep and got to the finish, and I’m ready for the World Cup! And we rode the sh*t out of the TTRs, but my moped is broke because I tried to make her go faster and now it’s not having any of it.”

Pan-shot-snapper Innes Graham was feeling good all weekend, and even better when he strapped the new Funn bars to his bike. A solid race run put down on Sunday, finishing 17th, and a few lessons on the TTR wrapped up his weekend, check out his thoughts –

“Yeah my run was alright, I pushed hard. I had a couple of little mistakes at the top, but I got into it. There’s a wee gap in the middle that I get excited for, but other than that it was good. I’m 10th currently and I’ve done so many runs over the past three days, 16 maybe? Just time on the bike, not really as much as I’d like, so any time on my bike is a good time”

Young gun James Purvis had a very good weekend in the junior category, pushing hard to get those full runs in and get past the dreaded arm pump. He overwatched the TTR action and focussed on getting on that podium – which he did, and nailed a solid 5th place. Very good preparation for the World Cup, which will be ridiculously good if the weather stays that dry up in the highlands. Check out what James had to say below-

“I managed to stay on my bike, which is good for me, I also managed a podium which is decent. I felt awesome on the track in practice, just not so much in my race run, but I stayed on – so it’s all good. I reckon I’ll be bob on for the World Cup in a few weeks time.”

And what’s Fort William without a solid motorbike session? Even Ben Reid let his hair down and got deep into the sandy ruts behind the race venue.

We’ll see you in three weeks for round three of the World Cup, and it’s set to be one for the history books. We’ll catch you there!
