North Wales Uplift Day

This North Wales Uplift news is a bit late, looks like entries have to be in today. But maybe get in touch with the organisers because what with the snow and all that it might be delayed.

The new course in North Wales is hosting it’s first official uplift day on the 17th January 2010.  The course is at Nant Gwrtheyrn on the LLyn Peninsular.  Simply Downhill are planning on holding a two day race event here in August.  The Nant Gwrtheyrn, Welsh heritage centre boasts great facilities for a race event including car park, cafe, bar and accommodation.

The track was originally built by local riders and after permission was granted by the centre to hold events there, has been finished off by keen volunteers.  The course starts steeply at the top with a mixture of rocky, flat and bermed corners.  As it drops down the forested hillside there are rocky drops and steep sections to negotiate.  The track then crosses the stream and spits you out onto a disused fire road with a drifty right hander.  Back into the woods again here and across the (now surfaced) rocks.  The course then rejoins the fire road and gives two drop options before hitting the final fast open section into the finish.  The course is all able to be rolled or jumped and dropped so is suitable for all levels of ability.

Simply Downhill are planning on holding a number of uplift events in the run up to the event in order to ensure the track is at it’s best come race day.  The first uplift day is Sunday 17th January.  Entries must be in by this Friday (8th) you can enter on line, by post or hand them in to Tom Fryer at Revolution Bikes.  Entry forms and  more details are available at www.simplydownhill.co.uk.
