The Val di Sole track has been a slippery snake all day and, as always, a true test for the World's best downhill racers. Danny Hart and Monika Hrastnik have got to grips with it quickest as they both put down the fastest runs of the day in a rain affected time training session. It was a day that saw huge time gaps blasted into the field with 10 seconds separating the first five men alone.

Danny won his second set of rainbow stripes here in 2016 but a crash in the woods half way through a strong race run saw him way back and unable to complete the double last year. It looked like he was more on 2016 form today though as he put nearly four seconds into Amaury Pierron on one of the first runs of the afternoon. Two Frenchies were on Hart's heels in Pierron and Benoit Coulanges, who pulled a great run out of the bag for Dorval AM. Finn Iles and Connor Fearon round out the top 5.

Monika Hrastnik claimed her first ever podiumĀ in Leogang and is carrying that form on into Val di Sole as she was nearly two minutes quicker than the rest of the field. Don't pop the champagne too early though, she was beaten by nearly ten seconds at the first split by Rachel Atherton.

Matteo Iniguez and Natasia Giminez came out on top for the women.
