Greg Williamson and Rachel Atherton win 2016 British National Championships, Steve Peat third

The old dog's still got it

Greg Williamson and Rachel Atherton took the 2016 British National Championship titles this weekend at Revolution Bike Park. There was also a top result for Steve Peat in his final year of racing.

Greg has been showing race-winning promise all year as he currently sits tenth in the World Cup overall standings with three top ten finishes, but this is by far the biggest win of his career. Rachel continued her dominant streak and said she was pushing extra hard this weekend as her winning margin was so fine in Lenzerheide.

Rachel has now won six National titles¬†while Greg Williamson will wear the Union Jack sleeve for the first time. Last year’s men’s national champion, Danny Hart, finished second while Peaty, who had been training at the venue all week, rounded off the podium – not bad for a man who should really be racing in the Veteran’s category.

In the women’s event, Tahnee Seagrave was eight seconds back in second while Manon came third.¬†In the other categories, Matt Walker continued his fine World Cup form to take the men’s Juniors and our very own Steve Jones took the Grand Vets title.
