Fionn and Emmeline will be at The Ladies Moelfre Milestone to help out fellow girl racers with advice and riding tips.

Fionn Griffiths and Emmeline Ragot (Team GR) will be offering their expertise to female riders wanting to enter the downhill (DH) race scene, on October 15th/16th, at the English Champs, Moelfre.

Fionn Griffiths, 4X Silver World Champ and 2 X World Cup DH winner, along with Emmeline Ragot, 4 x DH World Champion make up Team GR. A World Cup race team that is ranked 5th in the World.

Fionn, who started DH racing at 15 years old wants to help encourage more women to take the next step in their riding. She will be at the English Champs on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October to provide advice and support to ladies entering the race. Teammate Emmeline Ragot, current DH World Champion, will be joining the action from Saturday evening onwards to give the ladies some expert insight into the racing scene.

Race promoter Mike Marsden (www.borderline-events.co.uk) has agreed to give the women taking part at the weekend a private uplift at both at the start and end of the Saturday training day. Allowing girls to try the track without feeling the pressure that they may be holding up more experienced riders. Other arrangements will also be in place to help introduce women and the newer racers to the racing scene. The weekend will start with an optional, early morning, group track walk. Giving riders a chance to discuss with Fionn any questions or concerns they may have with the track.

The last run of the day will also be reserved for ‘The Ladies Moelfre Milestone’ participants, offering a perfect opportunity to have a full run of the track with a mock timed-start, to get that feeling of ‘race conditions.’

Team GR will be around all weekend to give support on and off the track, answer any questions, help people be in the right place at right time and be around for morale support.
There will be chance to hang out with Fionn, Emmeline and the other entrants after Saturday’s practice at the Team GR tech area – feel free to bring some meat and pop it on the BBQ!
Later in the evening alternative catering and music will be put on by the race organisers.

Faye from GirlMTNbiker.com has always wanted to take part in a race and said that it’s a great opportunity for first-timers to try racing. “It’s an unbelievable opportunity to get support and advice from Fionn and Emmeline, and the chance to ride with the current DH World Champion isn’t one that comes along everyday!”

Although the name “English Champs” makes the race sound daunting it’s actually one of the most beginner-friendly tracks on the race scene, giving the perfect opportunity for new riders to experience racing. To enter the race costs £60, this covers the uplift, practice sessions on both days, on-site camping and the race on the Sunday.
Entries will be open right up until race day, but it’s best to get your entry in soon so ideas for numbers can be gauged. You don’t need a license to enter the race, any previous race experience or any points of any nature. You will need a bike (the Moelfre track is ride-able on a hardtail, although a full-suss would be better for the track), a full-face helmet is mandatory, gloves and body protection are highly advisable.

It’s open to ALL women – First time racers and all experience levels welcome. Come and give it a go, learn from the pros and make your next ride a race!
Minimum age 13 yrs, for insurance reasons.

To pre-enter online at (www.borderline-events.co.uk) or enter on the day.
Keep an eye on www.girlmtnbiker.com for any updates on the race, to find other women entering and for further news.
