With Lenzerheide normally being a July race, we're used to blazing sunshine and a bone dry track here in Switzerland. Yesterday we got rain for the first time and a totally new twist on a track that riders assumed they'd figured out years ago.
In reality, the rain didn't make a huge difference. Yes, it was a bit greasy, but the surface was hard pack enough to resist rutting up. A few slide outs were the worst of the damage and, despite overnight rain, it will probably be almost dry again for elite qualifying later today.
Worlds is a tricky race to balance, with four days of riding on the cards, you don't want to blow your load too early but with qualifying coming in for the first time at World Champs tomorrow, you need to ride enough to ensure you're safely into finals.
