Viva La Francais – Crankworx DH

Crankworx Les Gets: Downhill Finals

The resurgence of French downhill was in full swing in Crankworx Les Gets. It was a monster of a track, which was made even harder with the muddy, wet and claggy conditions. The French riders ruled the race, four in the top ten – Remi Thirion in first with lieutenants Estaque, Pons and Payet behind him. Local lady Morgane Charre took the win in the elite Women’s by over 25 seconds – a huge win.

Aussie Jack Moir is finally getting to where he wants to be after a few years marred by injuries, it was good to see him up there. The DOG was on it too! Brendan Fairclough right up there 2nd place for him, he can only be looking forwards to Lenzerheide in a few weeks now, and another good day for British riders with Kerr and Williamson hammering well. Fabien Barel was looking quick all week, but unfortunately he went off course in his race run and was disqualified, but he would’ve finished in 4th if it wasn’t for that.

The story of the weekend was the mud, thick and gloopy.
Really gloopy.
Neil Stewart sliding her out, style for miles.
Second placed qualifier Romain Paulhan smashed it in qualifying yesterday, a crash in his race run put him back to 11th place. Still a very respectable result.
‘ere lad what u lookin at?

10th place for Greg Williamson yesterday, he's really stepped his game up this year...
The Deakinator wasn't racing this weekend put was out and about offering moral support. Sore eyes, he was peppered out.

Last night's pasta bake taped up for lunch.
So old it's new. This was one of the bigger ruts at Les Gets Crankworx 2016. Do we need to see a return to a bit of this? Do we need some more natural style DH tracks in the future?
Frenchman Thomas Estaque seeded 4th, finished 4th. A solid result for him here.

Casey Brown crashed out today and finished down in 6th place.
Champ Morgane Charre, pinned all weekend and managed to hold it together and took the win.
Champ.

Brendan Fairclough smashed it this weekend. More of the same Brendog!

Fastest Qualifier Mike Jones crashed out in his race run, which was a shame. It would have been great to see what he could have done.
