Part 4 of Jason and Manons Crankworx adventure.
Blind Bobby McMullen.
First off I’ve got to explain the random A-line finish line picture with two guys in it from yesterday (above). One was a BLIND, get it Blind downhill rider Bobby McMullen who did a 6.37 run down A-line, wow. The other rider in the pic is his guide who shouts intructions to him as they ride down.
Manon in the Ticket2Ride garage.
Woke up to rain and stiff legs so we had a lie in till 11, It slowed down a bit so we manned up and went out to Dual practice. The track was wet with a few soft bits but generally pretty good.
Manon and Napalm in the gate.
Manon and Jill Kintner, 4x practise.
I got a few pics today, one of Manon and Shaun Palmer on the gate, Manon in the garage, Manon with Jill Kintner during 4x practice.
2009 USAC Worlds team downhill member Brian Lopes catching a ride.
Manon casing the first jump, (thanks dad)
We also saw the step down they built today for the end of the Canadian Open DH, it’s massive.
VW Trick showdown was supposed to be tonight but was cancelled due to the rain we had all day. It actually stopped raining around 3pm so we were hoping they would hold it but no luck. We walked up there with a crowd from Ticket2Ride but walked back cap in hand.
On the way back we walked past the Whistler Dirt jumps which are sweet. We were wondering how they were in such good condition. Well this evening, after todays rain, all the local kids who ride there were out there fixing them up, reshaping and patting down. They look amazing now. This is how dirt jumps work and I took a picture of the crew all working together, no bitching, no slackers. I was so impressed. So this pic is for all you trail-digging-skivers and slackers out there showing you how to do it. I counted 12 lads there all with shovels. Who ran the advert ‘you reap what you sow’?
We’ll get some pics of the dirt jumps when we get time to ride them, if we get permission of course.
Giant Dual tomorrow
